As the air chills and the Winter grows closer, I am often asked, "Should I wait till Spring to list my house"?
The reality is, the best time to sell is when you are ready to sell. Are you relocating for a job? Is your your family growing and your house is shrinking? Do you find yourself using two out of six rooms and find yourself feeling lost in a big house?
That being said, there are Pros and Cons to selling in the Winter.
We'll start with the Cons first: 1. It's COLD 2. It's Snowy. There you have it, the cons.
Now let's look at the Pros: 1. a lot less competition on the market for your house. 2. Buyers who are ready to buy are typically the ones looking (refer to the Cons list). 3. Your house maybe dressed in it's Holiday best....tastefully done hopefully. 4. Services are usually much more available, such as movers, contractors, inspectors, appraisers, etc.
Selling your home in the Winter maybe cold and snowy but it may also allow your home to stand out in a sparse market and attract serious buyers who are ready to move. In the end moving isn't typically a great time anyway, so move when the time is right for you and start your new chapter.
